After decades of working in palliative care and the past 15yrs as Ballarat Hospice Care Chief Executive Officer Carita Clancy is officially retiring. For Carita working in palliative care felt natural.
Carita has seen many changes in palliative care over her career, however her dedication to staff, patients, families and carers was always front and centre. She was instrumental in the growth of Ballarat Hospice Care over the years, which continues today. It was under Carita’s leadership that the new purpose-built palliative care hub, made possible by $1.2 million raised by the community along with additional state government funding, was opened in 2019. This building now being well utilised by Ballarat Hospice Care staff, volunteers and the consortium is a very calm and peaceful place to work making everyone feel valued and supported.
Carita’s contributions to health over the past 46yrs and dedication to improving Palliative Care across the Grampians region have been exemplary. We wish her all the very best in her retirement.
